Poster Guideline

1. Purpose of poster session

A. Show school work

B. Present early research-Then get feedback and practice presentation

C. For meeting people

D. It is about you to picture yourself and promote yourself

2. How to do?

Core: Be active, not just stand still to recite a story

A. Go to the poster session armed with handouts about your research and business cards for networking.

B. Don’t be afraid to leave handouts at your poster while you go view others’ work.

C. Don’t read and focus on visual elements

Opt for as little text as possible (no more than 300 words), and make it big and readable from a distance. Use table, graphics and other maps on your poster (use your poster as tool) to give readers an idea of what you’re working on, and fill in the details in person or in your handout or extended abstract.

D. Be prepared and invite a question

You should expect others’ judge and questions since you have fully prepared.

E. Speak with the conference organizers, your library, and your faculty about what you could do to archive the poster and handout for future discovery and access. A digital version of your handout with live links to resources would be especially helpful.
